Bangkok to Host 4th Stop of IWWF Asia Wakefest Series in August 2024
IWWF Asia is delighted to announce that the 4th stop of the IWWF Asia Wakefest Series 2024 will take place in Thailand, from 16th to 18th August 2024.
The event, organized by the Thailand Extreme Sports Association (TESA), will be held at Mitrijit Lake, Khlong Sam Wa, Bangkok, Thailand, and will feature the wakesurf (skim and surf) discipline
Highlighting the event is a generous US$10,000.00 cash purse, which will be awarded to the winners competing in the open category. This substantial prize pool underscores the event’s status as a premier competition in the region, attracting top wakesurf athletes from across Asia.
“We are thrilled to bring this prestigious event to Bangkok and to Mitrijit Lake,a venue that is becoming to be known for its exceptional conditions for wakesurfing,” said Chris Weeraya Rosendahl of TESA. “With the support of Nautique as our official tow boat, we are set to deliver an unforgettable experience for both riders and spectators.”
The involvement of Nautique, as the Official Tow Boat, promises optimal conditions for the athletes to perform at their best. This partnership highlights the event’s commitment to excellence and elevates the competition to new heights.
The IWWF Asia Wakefest Series has grown in both popularity and prestige, with the Bangkok event expected to draw significant attention locally and internationally. With the substantial cash purse and the beautiful setting of Mitrijit Lake, this stop is poised to be one of the standout events on IWWF’s 2024 wakesurfing calendar, leading up to the 1st IWWF World Wakesurf Championships that will be held this November in Hong Kong.
